Let’s talk wax. If you’ve never gotten waxed before, you might be wondering some very common questions we receive at Canvas Salon. How long does it take? Does waxing hurt? Do I have too much hair? Do I not have enough hair? What does aftercare look like?
Know that most everyone can feel a bit self-conscious or apprehensive before their appointment. Our staff is trained to help you feel comfortable and help you achieve the smooth hair-free skin you are looking for.
At The Canvas Salon & Skin Bar, we believe in being transparent with communication. Our guests should feel confident and know what to expect before walking into the salon. Have you ever walked into an event or place and had no idea where to go or what to do? It can feel awkward, right?
Whether you have a special event coming up or are looking for regular hair maintenance, we want to ensure your comfort and relaxation during your visit.
Here’s the lowdown: Waxing is one of the most effective and lasting ways to get rid of unwanted hair.
Waxing provides silky, soft and hair-free skin for typically about 3-4 weeks. It is also a physical exfoliation, removing the lifeless skin cells on the surface of the skin- something that shaving just doesn’t do! Compared to shaving, waxing removes the hair follicle directly from the root.
Compared to epilation which removes hair right below the skin’s surface, waxing is much less painful and has longer-lasting results.
After the first treatment, most guests find their hair grows back both thinner and finer.
#1 tip
To prepare for your first waxing appointment remember to RELAX. Most often the discomfort related to waxing is the nerves and tension one feels in the waxing bed. Take a breath. Remember not to tan, drink excessive caffeine or use any numbing cream before your appointment.
Mostly, people are worried about the pain of getting waxed. It’s important to note that waxing is quick and over in an instant. The hair is gone before you know it- really. Our friendly trained estheticians are here to make you the most comfortable- whether that’s by talking, cracking a joke or understanding if you prefer to put headphones in and listen to some music or a podcast. This is your time and we want you to have the best experience possible.
Canvas Salon’s Skin Artist, Karoline says, “My best advice is to come to your appointment as relaxed as you can. Like a lot of things in life, the anticipation is often worse than the actual event. I’ll make sure you are comfortable! ”
Hair Length For Waxing
The hair should be at least ¼ inch long at the time of your waxing appointment. For eyebrow waxing, 1/8 of an inch in length works.
Waxing Appointment Process
Appointment times can vary, but most of our guests are in and out between 15 to 30 minutes. We start your treatment by cleansing the skin to remove any oils or lotions that could limit the quality of your wax treatment.
After your waxing appointment, your stylist will rejuvenate the skin with our Bush Balm and review the proper after-wax care to ensure lasting, silky skin. We love the Bush Balm exfoliating scrub paired with one of the oil blends to reduce ingrown hairs. Know that being regular and consistent with your waxing schedule is recommended for lasting, smooth skin.
The Canvas Salon & Skin bar offers both face and body waxing for men and women.
