Whether you’re a lover of long luxurious locks or you keep yours cropped into a short and sassy style the same thinking applies. Healthy hair is more beautiful.
Just think about the manufacturer Proctor & Gamble and their success with the Pantene hair care commercials. We all know those commercials, the ones with the long shiny locks.
At Canvas Salon and Skin Bar we’re not partial to your hair being long or short. But we do care about your hair being healthy. In fact, it’s our number one priority at Canvas Salon. There are many thoughts around what makes hair healthy and what damages hair so as your hair experts we wanted to give you some insight to the 4 most important things to pay attention to if you want that shiny healthy hair to be on your head.
3.Your Daily Routine
1.Let’s start with your diet.
You may or may not know the connection your diet has to the health of your hair. Hair is made up almost entirely of protein so it’s probably no surprise that a protein rich diet is the first step to healthy hair. Vegetarians have no fear. We don’t believe you have to start eating a steak to make your hair look great. Just be sure to add in some Legumes or other plant protein source. Another important nutrient for healthy hair are Omega 3s. These healthy fats are found in the cell membranes of your scalp, in the hair shaft itself, and in the natural oils that keep your hair and scalp conditioned. Try adding in some fish, avocado, pumpkin seeds, or walnuts.
A healthy scalp is a good indicator of healthy hair. You can’t have one without the other. Many times salons fail to treat the scalp. Even though your stylist looks at your scalp every time you’re in the salon, few hairdressers are trained to pay attention to what they see. Problems of the scalp, ranging from dandruff to more inflammatory conditions are not uncommon. At Canvas Salon we can help you treat your scalp conditions through one of the many Aveda products targeted at building a healthy scalp.
3.Your daily routine
This is the most common knowledge around hair health. We all know that how we treat our hair each day greatly impacts how it treats us. If we’re hard on our hair it shows us that by being dry, frizzy, and generally unruly. The broken pieces don’t have to be there! Think about your daily routine. If you want healthy, shiny hair be sure you’re including a heat protecting treatment on your hair like Aveda’s Damage Control or Aveda’s Smooth Infusion Style Prep, and check that any heat source you use is at the proper temperature. Ask your hair stylist at Canvas Salon in Powell Ohio if you need help determining how hot is too hot for your heat styling tools.
Sometimes we all need a little extra boost to keep our hair looking healthy. A hair treatment is simply a more concentrated, higher quality conditioning treatment that is offered in the salon by a hair stylist. The products used are often not available for retail sale because of their professional nature. At Canvas Salon we use exclusively Aveda Products. The salon has plant and flower based hair treatments that help add moisture, shine, and strength into the hair. The next time you’re in the salon ask your hairdresser which one might be best for you. The best part; they’re just $10!
