In a world controlled by how much time we have (or don’t have) people are often controlled by the clock. The beauty industry is no different. Speed means consumer convenience, but it also means more, more, more. If we can go faster we can make more money. Think about it.. one hairdresser doing 10 haircuts a day is going to be more profitable than a hairdresser doing 7. But in what instances do speed and quality go together?
Like any business it is important that we have our standards established. We know how long something should take. As someone who works in salons all around the country I can confidently tell you ” People are not working to realistic standard times…they are going too fast to produce quality.” Why? Well money is one reason. The second reason is that people who work in the beauty industry have a high desire to please. Consumers wanted faster because a hairdresser before had done it faster..(because they wanted to make more money) Interestingly enough 50% of women feel like their hair is dry or damaged…speed and quality don’t go together.
Going faster does not mean it is going to be better. Going to a hairdresser who does your whole head of highlights in 30 minutes is not something to be excited about.
At Canvas Salon and Skin Bar we value quality above profitability. We prefer to be small and intimate and to work at being the absolute best. Even if that means we never do “as much” as other salons because we are not working as fast as other salons.
Be prepared to take time on your first visit with us. Enjoy it. We go above and beyond to pamper you. AND we make sure you always know how long it will take us to create your look BEFORE we begin. We know time can be an issue sometimes…but it’s not always.
